Warsaw Caves
This past weekend we camped at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area (east of Peterborough, ON) with our good friends, Jen and Mike. It rained on the trip up, but kindly abated so that we could set up camp on Friday evening and enjoy our day on Saturday. The rain returned Saturday night, so we packed up and headed for home first thing Sunday.
There are six main caves all in one little area. They are not particularly large caves, but they are certainly more than holes in the ground. They seem to be the result of ancient fractures in the bedrock and consist mostly of interconnected cracks in the rock. Therefore, there are a lot of really tight spaces. The conservation area sells "headlamps" for $4, but we soon discovered that they were not bright enough to make enough difference to be worthwhile. So we chalk that up to a "silly tourist" mistake.

Andrew and Melissa in a cave. Notice the pretty headwear :)
After the caves we went on a hike to see the kettles. The kettles are formed by rushing waters carving out the rock over eons.
Here's Mike and Jen in a love pot.
We had a great time and recommend going to this beautiful park.

Looks interesting. It's nice that you post pics from time to time - since we don't see you near often enough!!!
